Administrator Password Problem

Anthony

I recently discovered a virus on my computer. I scanned
my files using Norton, and then I scanned my files using
Adaware.

I rebooted my computer (which uses Windows XP Home), and
now it takes me to a log in screen that asks me for
the "owner" password. I attempted to log on as the
administrator under safe mode, but it wants the
administrator password as well. I never used passwords
since purchasing my computer.

Windows appears to have been pre-installed on my computer -
as I have a end-user license from Microsoft, but no
Windows XP disk.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I can log back into
my computer?

Thanks!

After hours of research, I finally found an easy fix on
the manufacturer's (HP) web-page. HP didn't provide any
reinstallation disks, it turns out, because the equivalent
of the disks are already on the computer. After starting
up the computer, I pressed the F10 button. After that
point, I was guided through a process that reinstalled
windows with absolutley NO data loss. This may be the
case for manufacturers as well.

Did you get any assistance with this, as this happened to
me last night - will you respond -
(e-mail address removed). I am currently locked out of my
computer at home because of this same problem.

It's not the case for all manufacturer and not even all HP models but you
are fortunate that it allowed to do a non-destructive reinstall. No
guarantee the same will be available to all others.
