Administrator Password problem - locked out

I purchased a new laptop and was trying to hookup
wireless/network. I restarted my desktop computer and
when I enter the password for the administrator at the
start of windows - I get a message stating "the system
cannot log on --make sure user name and domain are
correct then type password" However, I have never had
a problem signing in until now.
I don't know how to unlock the computer. I have always
used the same password so there are no mistakes there.

I was setting up a wireless base station and after
restarting my computer I had this problem.
I am using my wireless laptop to type this message.

Does anyone know how to bypass the administrator password
settings? Or change password, etc.?

How do I log on locally? Do I turn the wireless base
off? The problem occurred after I set up wireless
network on my laptop. ?

Any help would be appreciated.

When you start the computer up you should get to the box asking for a user
name and password.
If there are only two such boxes click on options to reveal a third
The third box allows you to choose whether you log onto the network or your
local machine.
there should be a drop down menu with two names (domain names) - choose the
name which refers to your local machine
