Administrator/new user

Michael

I got my computer about two years ago. I was a complete
novice back then (except for knowing how to type, e-mail,
basic stuff).

At the time, I only used the administrator account to use
my computer. Therefore, two years later, here I am and I
find out that I should never go online or use the computer
under administrator unless I am adding new programs,
deleting files, etc. (administrator tasks).

I made a new user just to use my computer/go online/casual
use, but that doesn't have my .jpeg files, music files,
etc. The new user account has nothing, as if I just
started out from the beginning! It's asking me to
configure my mouse again, it doesn't have any of my files,
etc. (I hope people know what I am talking about here!)

Question: how do I use my computer under a new user name
but that has all the things/files that the administrator
account has? I know this may sound like a stupid question,
but I really don't know how to do this in one easy step.

Thank you in advance to anyone who replies.

I saved this from poster in this NG
Cannot remember who.
I have not tried this but you should be ok with it.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Logon as Administrator.
Then....
Administrative Tools
Computer Management
Local Users and Groups
Create a new account.... name and password

LOGOFF
Logon as the newly created user
LOGOFF again
LOGON AS ADMINISTRATOR

Then go to Control Panel > System ( NOT USERS AND PASSWORDS ! )
User Profiles
Select Administrator
Copy to...Browse to C:\Documents and Settings and find the new user
you just created and click OK

Logon as the new user and change whatever you want.

Thank you for your reply. I tried that but I logged in as
the new user and the new user didn't have the
same "profile" as Admin. Maybe I did something wrong.

I guess the question I should have asked originally is:
how do I create a new user that has the same profile as
the Administrator's, but does NOT have the
Administrator's "power"?
