I just upgraded to Vista Home premium on my laptop, everything seemed fine until I wanted to install some software, the system just went crazy with the message "This typically happens if you are logged on with insuffient privileges" This is driving me crazy as I am the only user registered on the system and I am registered as an Administrator so I just don't get the dam crap. I really thought life was to get easier with Vista? Any help would be appreciated.

Right click on the installation setup file and choose run as administrator.

UAC, User access control, gives you more control. It's alerting you that a
program is trying to do something that needs elevated privileges. That's a
good thing. You want to know when that happens. Yes it is burdensome in
the beginning but after the system is set up you will get the prompts much
less frequently.

You can turn off UAC during the initial setup then re-enable afterwards. I
would not recommend this but some programs won't install with it on. Of
course the best action is to get an update for it or a different program
that doesn't write to protected areas.

For info on turning off UAC, from Start | Help and Support search on UAC.
