"Administrator" in Vista is not the same as "Administer" in previous
versions of Windows. For a complete history, reasons and opinions, please
feel free to further search this newsgroup using the following: administer.

In "run" type secpol.msc and enable the administrative account (The first
Item) The nex time you boot you can log in as Administrator

In "RUN" type secpol.msc. enable the Adminstrator account (first item ) On
your noext boot you can log in as Administrator

Not in Vista Home Premium. This may work in the business and ultimate
editions.

I am going to go to Ultimate.

Hi intrass.

I assume you are working with 5456?

Then have you tried this before you reinstall. Go to Start/run and type
controluserpasswords2 . Click on the Advanced tab. Under Advanced User
management click the Advanced button. Click on users RIGHT click the
Administrator account and select properties. Uncheck ACCOUNT IS DISABLED

If you are going for an install of Ultimate, heres a good idea.
When the round aurora/emblem shows up on the First boot after setup, select
Shift+F10. The command prompt should show up. If it does not, try ALT+TAB.
Type taskmgr and ENTER. In the task manager, close msoobe.exe. Windows will
log off or reboot and you will logon as Administrator.

Now you can try and apply the first or second idea I posted - worked for me
and saves a lot of problems, whilst you are testing, with permissions etc.

Vista Administrator account: accessing

right click on "computer" and click on manage.
click on "local users and groups", click on "users", click on
"administrator" and right click, click on properties. toggle the box marked
"account is disabled". this should clear this box. now close all windows.
in control panel click on "administrative tools", now click on "local
security policy". Local Policies/Security Options in :interactive logon:"
enable "Do not display last
last user name"

In Vista the Administrator account is the only one really that I have been
able to tell that really has full access. the get to some places you just
have to run apps as Administrator. But at least you will be able to get into
the account when you need to.
