Hi,

I have a few programs that I want to take off my computer, but a pop-up
comes up and says that I need to contact the adminstrator. I am the only one
that uses this laptop and have not been able to fix this issue. I have
Windows Vista Home Premium OS 32 bit.
Any suggestions?????

Hi Kelsey,

Are you trying to remove the programs using the "Uninstall a program" from
Programs and Features in Control Panel? If not, how are you trying to
uninstall them?

Some programs do have badly-written uninstallers that fail to ask for the
correct permissions to uninstall them. If they will not uninstall via
Programs and Features, Uninstall a Program, you may need to find the actual
uninstall executable in the Program Files folder for the program.
Right-click on the uninstaller executable and select "Run as administrator".

Hey

It sounds like whoever set up your laptop has not given you an administrator
account. It would be a good idea to contact that person and get them to give
you administrator access.

Hi,
I purchased this laptop from Best Buy and I am the only one who has ever
used it and installed the programs.

Hi,
Where do I find the uninstaller excutable file in the Programs folder, so I
can select it to run as administrator.

Hi, Kelsey13. I have exactly the same OS. Meaning if it works for me , it
has to work for you. What you need to do is to take " ownership " of the
programs. Here is the step by step :---
1. bring up the program > right click > choose Properties
2.click Security > click Advance
3. click Effective Permission > click Select
4. enter your account name as requested by the prompt > click OK
5. a window with a long list of permissions, all checkmarked. Scroll down to
the last entry, you should see Take Ownership , click OK
6. close all the windows. You are now the owner of that program. Go back to
that program and delete it.
PS. like the other person said , did you mean " uninstall " when you said "
delete " ?If so why wouldn't you go to the programs directory and do the
un-installing ? One more thing, vista does not like programs downloaded from
XP.Must be some compatability issue. Consult some XP experts.
