Administrator cannot install certain software

Hi,
I have a windows 2000 domain with AD and my clients also are win 2000 pro
computers.
I think I might have done something wrong somewhere because now I cannot
install software on the win 2000 servers also when I am logged on as admin.
The strange thing is that I cannot remember doing something to restrict
certain software installation.

For example when I try to install VMWARE I get that restricting message, but
when I want to install NETIQ SQL software it goes trough.

I get this message : The system administrator has set policies to prevent
this installation.

Have a look at the registry keys mentioned in
http://search.microsoft.com/search/...n&qu=MSI+policies+machine&qp=&qa=&qn=&c=3&s=4
to verify that the DisableMSI policy hasn't been set.

Here's one possibility, relating to installation of Norton Anti-Virus -
though it specifically refers to Windows XP.

now I can install my software.
