Administrator account problems

Dear all,

It is important to apply a password to your adminstrator account. However, I
seem to have some problems with that: I cannot log in as administrator. There
ought not to be a password applied when you run the administrator account for
the first time, but it won't let me in.
Consecquently, I have tried the DOS-cmd: control userpasswords2 . This
allows me to reset the administrator password. I type in a new one, restart
the computer and presses Ctrl Alt Del twice. I type in "Administrator" and my
new password. Still, it won't let me in.

One of the messages I get, is that I have no rights to log in as
administrator. My personal account has the rights of an administrator. What
is it all about!?!

Thank you

This is normal. In XP Home, you can only log on to the "Administrator"
account when the computer is in safe mode.
See... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290109

Since you have apparently already set up your normal account as an
administrator, you really have no reason to use the built-in "Administrator"
account unless you need to fix a specific problem or something happens to
your account.
