Administrator account in XP Home

Hi,

Is there an administrator account in XP Home and
can I set that up if I do the install from scratch?

Yes, there is. It's hidden from the Welcome screen. To log in as
Administrator, you can either:

1. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice at the welcome screen, or:

2. Start Windows XP Home Edition in Safe mode.

When I did a complete new install from the cdrom(Dell) it
did not ask me for the administrator account. It set it up
as OWNER. Has Dell done something to "customize" their
copies of XPH so that the customer has to buy XP Pro if
they want to do any kind of networking?

There should still be a hidden Administrator account. To access it,
start the XP Home computer in Safe mode by pressing F8 immediately
after the power-on self test.
