I have win98 but my dad has win2000 and is trying to do
several thing and is being blocked because he does not
have Administrative rights. I am unsure how to aquire
administrative rights and dad has no clue at all. Can
someone help?

Unlike W98, Windows 2000 has built in users and group management. Every W2K
computer has a local administrator account configured during installation with a
password. The administrator account can not be disabled or deleted, but can be
renamed. That administrator [all powerful on the computer] account can be used to
create more users of which by default are regular users unless they are added to the
administrators group. Go to Computer Management/Users and Groups to see where this is
done. You should try to log on as administrator, guessing passwords including blank.
