I am trying to download security software from my internet provider, and I
get the following message: "You must have administrative rights in Windows
before installing software." How do I do this? This is my home computer,
but we also use it for our business.

You get administrative rights by using an account which is a member of the
administrators group. One such account is the built-in administrator.
However, as this is a well known name, it is advisable to create an account
whose name is not obvious and which is a member of the administrators group
for the purpose of performing all administrative tasks. It is ill advised
to use such a powerful account for day to day tasks.

Are you logging in with an account that has administrative access?
Windows XP what? Home? Professional? Media Center Edition? x64? etc...
