Administrative Priveleges

I've purchased several game controllers (Microsoft,
Logitech, and others)and they all check good during
Windows self-check. For instance, I've got a Microsoft
Sidewinder Joystick. In "Game Devices", under "advanced",
the the self-check circular symbols 1 thru 8 highlight
when I depress the related buttons, and the y-axis and
X-axis crosshairs move as I rotate the joystick.

When I attempt various fly/battle/kill/shoot games, I'm
dead in the water. Nothing works.

If available, I've also selected jostick control in the
individual games "options" menu, still to no avail.

I've a feeling this is somehow related to "Administrative
Priviledge" (Computer Administrator), but perhaps it's
just something simple.

I have WindowsXP, and I am the sole owner/operator of my
computer. I would assume that would automatically make me
the "Computer Administrator".

Anybody help? A beverage of choice to the individual who
lights the way for me.

hi,

there is an option in the game to configure the game
controller and you will have to assign the functionality
to the button to make this work. To do that open the menu
which configures the controller. then select the function
that you want to assign the button and then press enter.
now that function will be flashing with a ? mark or a <>
mark. Press the button on the controller on which you
want to assign and that function will be assigned to the
button. you can refer to the game manual to find the
recommended settings. there will be a picture of the
controller and the details of what each button does.
