Hello,

Our DC are all installed with Windows 2000. I want to install on my machine
Windows 2003 Server and want to do my administration work from this machine
(which is not an DC).

Do you think there's a problem working like this? Do I have to upgrade our
DC's? Can I use the adminpack from Windows 2003 without creating any
problems?

Thank you for your answers,
Gilles

Additional info:

The new admin pak will update your system.adm file on the
first DC on which you edit a GPO. Beware! If you
customised this file, your additions may be lost.

Secondly, I have heard that w2k SP5 (or SP4?) will support
the new (w2k3) adminpak - can MS confirm/deny?

Finally, the new adminpak uses LDAP sign and seal, which
is supported by XP Sp1, w2k3 and w2k SP3 and above. If you
connect to a w2k sp2 DC using the new adminpak, you will
experience an error. A registry key can then be changed on
the client so that sign and seal is not used.

If you need further info, post a reply and cc my email
address.

HTH,
Neil
