Admin RRAS from XP

I would like to know how I can add the RRAS snap-in to an
MMC running on XP. It is such a pain to use terminal
services to connect to the VPN server, then run the RRAS
MMC, just to see who is connected.

I tried moving the rrasmgmt.msc file but when I run it on
my pc I receive an error stating that the snap-in failed
to initialize. Evidently it's expecting to find data
about RRAS in my registry, and of course its not there.

Can this even be done, if so how?

You need to install the server Administrative Tools Pack on the XP machine.
The tools pack is found on the server OS install CD. (I think the file is
called adminpack.msi or something like that.)

I do have the adminpak installed on my XP machine.
However I don't see a tool for RRAS, or the option to add
one. What am I missing?

I just gave this a try and you're correct, RRAS isn't available from
adminpak -- sorry 'bout that, I thought it was.

I am investigating this, and if I come up with a better solution I will
post it -- but for the time being I would say the only way to remotely
manage the RRAS servers is via Terminal Services as you are doing or by
using Remote Desktop Connection.

Thank you for your replies and for looking into this
issue. Sure would be nice to admin RRAS from my desktop ;)

The RRAS snapin was removed from the adminpak.msi for Server 2003. It still
exists on the 2000 server CD. The RRAS adminpak snapin is not supported to
admin a 2003 server.

The supported and suggested way is to use either Netsh -r or RemoteDesktop.
