Hello, I recently bought a used laptop computer and when
i started it up, it has a password to access the
computer. Since this was not my computer, i don't know
the password. Is there any way to reset the entire
computer? Example: Taking out the battery and leaving it
out for a couple of days....Buying restore discs....
Thanks for your help,
-Joel

Joel;
Something here should help:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/lostpass.htm

However since the laptop is new to you, you should perform a Clean
Installation to get rid of all the junk and any malware.
That would also solve your password issue.

Or are you talking about the BIOS password?
If so contact the manufacturer, prove ownership and they will tell you
how to take care of it.

Joel,

Go to the site I list below and create yourself a boot floppy or CD. This
is a Linux based program that is menu driven an very easy to use. It will
reset ANY local password as fast as you can go through the setup. It takes
about a minute the first time you do it. Remember to use * for the new
passord and that will clear out hte old one and give it a blank password.
Its actually pretty scary how easy it is to clear out password with this
program. I guess thats what makes Domain authentication a much better way to
login.

Hope it helps
