Our school recently purchased Digital Image Suite 2006. I
tried to do an administrative Install so I could use
Group Policy to run it out to the appropriate computers,
but it would only do a normal instillation. I also could
not find an MSI file like you would expect from a
Microsoft product like this.
Does anyone know how to do the Admin install for a
product like this? I could make my own MSI, but that
would cause issues if people went to use parts that were
not installed as part of the standard install and it
needed the CD's

Personally, I know very little about networks and
the only thing I have on this subject are some
instructions I saved for version 9, maybe you
can adapt:
(If you need the "PI.MSI" file explore disk one
and look in the PIP folder.)
================================
================================
If they want to create a share on a network
that they can install from, they should do the
following:
1) Create a new folder on a network share,
such as:
\\myserver\public\DigitalImageSuiteV9
2) Insert the 2nd CD into their CDROM drive,
and copy all the contents to that folder on the
network that they just created.
3) Insert the 1st CD into their CDROM drive,
and copy all the contents to that folder on the
network that they just created. You will be
asked if you want to overwrite some files,
click "Yes to All".
At this point, in the folder that they created,
they should have a PIP folder, a WMP folder,
and a few files: Autorun.inf, Readme.htm,
Readme.txt, Setup.exe, and Support.txt.
The majority of our files are in the PIP folder.
At this point, they should be able to run setup.
exe, and be able to do a FULL install.
More:
MSI should be able to integrate both CDs
if you use Group Policy, however I would
strongly suggest assigning per-machine
rather than publishing/assigning per-user.
DIP9 works fine as a normal user too and
has stronger support for network printers;
I have had some issues with it in a network
setting, especially when the printing wizards
come up and really want to "hold hands"
with the printer.

If you try this...let me know the result.
