I've been running XP for several months, but haven't
logged in as administrator in a long time.

Recently I logged in as administrator and when I navigated
to a folder and double click on an
executable (name.exe), I got a pop-up like:

name.exe
The specified path does not exist.

"Run as..." works.
Logging in to a limited account also works.
This is a real pain. I can't even work with the control
panel (I have to go to system32 and run manually).

Any suggestions?

yeh the exe you r trying to open has certain files
missing eg: .dll file if you want to execute this file
then i suggest you either remove it and reinstall it

I don't think it's a program installation problem. It
only affects my administrator account and I only have a
problem when I try to run by double clicking.

As administrator, I can't run ANY programs with a double
click, but I seem to be able to run everything using "Run
as...".

I have no problems double clicking from my limited account.
