The Problem: When logged on to my default 'administrator Account' I am starting to encounter problems with certain programs, explorer.exe, msbb.exe, msimn.exe, and desktop crashing, but, I have given myself a user account with admin rights, and all the above programs work OK after just ctrl-alt-del, log out, and log straight back in again with user/admin account, so I have deduced that it is not the actual programs as such, but more to do with settings related to the default admin account!.... how can I rectify the problem?? any help please........thank you.........mick palmer

This sounds like a permissions problem with the NTUSER.DAT file.
You can either recreate your profile or load the Dat file in regedt32 as a
hive and then re-permission it.

You can also check the security token for the administrator account using
Wohami /v (reskit)
Check this against the working admin account.

Log on under your alternative account, then rename the administrator's
profile folder. It's in c:\Documents and Settings. This will force a new
profile to be created when you next log on as the administrator.
