Here's my problem: there re a few situations where the taskbar is too high.
That is, it covers a portion of the bottom of the screen.

I can uncheck the box that says taskbar is always on top. But then it messes
up some other situations.

If the width of the taskbar was just about 1/8" less, that would be best. Is
there any way I can do that?

right click blank of taskbar
[-] uncheck lock taskbar
postition cursor at top edge
see vertical arrows <-->
drag top edge down
right click blank of taskbar
[x] check lock taskbar
====done=============================================

That doesn't seem to adjust the height. I can make it disappear and come
back. Is there a way to just adjust the height?

I have the same problem - PLEASE email me if you find a
fix for this. The bottom tool bar is double when it
should be single - how can I adjust it? Thanks - Linda

To resize the Taskbar,
1) Right-click on a clear area of the Taskbar
2) Uncheck "Lock the Taskbar" on the popup menu
3) Move the mouse pointer until it is anywhere on the top edge of the
Taskbar and turns into a double-arrow
4) Hold down the left mouse button and drag downward until the Taskbar is
the correct size.
You may have to fiddle with (4) and (5) above until the Taskbar resizes.
The secret is to get the mouse pointer on the top edge of the Taskbar in
such a way that it turns into a double-arrow
