Hi,

I have a user using WinXP Pro & they have local admin privileges on their
workstation. I have also created a GPO & I think this has prevented access
for the user to change the date within Windows?

I have enabled the following under User Configuration -> Administrative
Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar of the GPO.
Lock the Taskbar
Clear history of recent opened documents on exit
Prevent changes to Taskbar and Start Menu Settings
Remove access to context menus for the taskbar
Remove Balloon Tips on Start Menu items
Remove Run menu from Start Menu

I have also lots & lots of other items in the GPO but I believe they would
be unrelated to this particular issue? So for the above items I have
disabled & enabled to see what combination will allow the user to change the
date. But I've tried all the combination I believe & can't seem to find a
solution.

Can someone please point me into the right direction in solving this problem.

Cheers

The ability to change the date and time on a workstation is a user right.
It is not an administrative policy. By default, only administrators and
power users can.

This setting can be found under:

Computer Configuration\ Windows Settings\ Security Settings\ Local policies\
User Rights Assignment
-- Change the system time

Sorry Paul that didn't help me. But it did help me to think a bit more
logically about the problem. What I found that was that the barred access to
the Control Panel was the issue. I instead allowed access to the Control
Panel & then removed some of the applets via the GPO.

All solved & happy again.
