WORD 2000
Tools- Envelopes and Labels
I can easily add new item to the list of addresses and print an envelope.
However I can not find how to delete the item which I do need any more from
the list.
Thanks
MikeA

Hi MikeA,

You might want to confirm this by asking in an Outlook newsgroup, but as far
as I know, there's no way to edit this (or any similar list, such as fonts,
recently used files, etc.) You just have to wait until something drops off
the list (by adding enough new items that it gets "shoved off").

Usually, you can delete the list entirely by doing something in the Registry
(most often by deleting Word's DATA key), but that's pretty much the extent.

Many thanks. You solved my problem.
You do not know how good you are!
I have Oultook but never used it and I did not know that Word invokes
Outlook Contacts for the Address Book.
I opened Outlook - Contacts.
Highlight the unwanted item, press Ctrl and delete icon.
Voila - the item is gone.

Hi MikeA,

<G> You're pretty good, yourself, to track that down. Thanks for cluing
me in that the list is that dynamic! Just out of curiosity:

since you weren't consciously using Outlook, I take it you were typing
the addresses directly into the dialog box? And was Word automatically
transferring ALL of them into Outlook? I've never see anything like
this (and a quick test doesn't confirm it, either)...

Or were you using the Letter Wizard?

Word 2000 Win Me
I am not using Letter Wizard.
When I want to print an envelope:
Open Word-Tools- Envelopes and Labels.
I can either:
Type an address in Delivery Address box and print - it will not save the
address
OR
Click on the Address icon above the box - this opens "Select Name" dialog.
I highlight the address I want - OK- and it puts it in the Delivery Address
box of the Envelopes and Labels dialog. "Select Name " closes by itself.

If I want to save the address in the list for future use: When I am in
Select Name dialog I press New..., fill in and OK. It saves it to the list.

I just noticed that in the Select Name dialog it says : "Show names from
the:" and in the box I have only one option: Contacts. This must be a
default because I did not put it in. (When I do not know what I am doing I
go by defaults!) I presume that the location "Contacts" links me to the
Outlook.

I hope you can understand this.

Regards
MikeA
