address drop down

I am running IE6 on Win 2000 pro. Everytime I open a new
IE window, type in a address and hit enter. IE will
freeze up for about 20 seconds before it starts searching
for the site. After the first site, everything works
fine. I can lick on a link and open stuff fine. Also,
when i open a new IE window, when I hit the drop down
address button, the window will also freeze for 20
seconds.

Please help.
