address box disappeared

The place to key in web page addresses has disappeared. i go to
view-toolbars-address and it shows the word 'address' on the far
right....but I am not able to do anything with it. no box to write
in....any ideas?
 
Thanks dan. it was locked....but when I unlocked it, I found the grey bar
you mentioned and was able to get everything running again.
