had my pc re-formatted. technician saved all my documents
music fies etc on c.d.. I re-installed all wwithout a
problems. Exept my adress book with e-mails saved on the
smae cd as the other documents, which as mentioned re-
installed and opened. Attempting to open and re-install my
address book the following message appears: (I closed all
open programs etc tryed veriouns ways to re-instal without
success) "the address book file has been locked by another
application. Pleasew close (which I did) the other
application and try later again." PLEASE HELP I AM GOING
BANANAS BIG TIME

Try finding all files named " ~ " no quotes by running a Find > Files > Folders
from your Run > Dialog Box. Delete any you may find that are corrupt duplicates
of your address book - this may be the culprit in creating and retaining an
address book.

The Address Book file may be write-protected?
Sometimes this happens when copied from a hand-made CD?

Assuming Outlook Express:
Copy the *.wab to My Documents.
Remove the Read Only attribute.
Now try to import from it. (File | Import in the Address Book.
