Most programs I have used in the past has a built in address book. I cannot
seem to find one in Word 2007. Can someone please tell me how to activate
one? I have an icon in the mail section but it is not highlited as usable.

Word uses Outlook contacts to provide the address book. Set Outlook as the
default e-mail application for Windows and the address book option will
become available.

I am using MS Word (MS Office Standard 2007), MS Vista Home Premium, Windows
Mail, IE 8. I have no desire to change any of those. Are you saying that
there is no way for me to establish and access an address book to address
envelopes in Word 2007?

Yes. The insert address function only works when Outlook is the default
e-mail application.
