I'm using Outlook 2003 with Windows XP Pro.....

If I select the address book when creating a new e-mail message, it
correctly shows all my Contacts, which is what I want, but they are all
ordered by Title+First Name+Last Name (i.e. full name) which is pretty
inconvenient. I would prefer them to be displayed in order of last name or
first name, but there doesn't appear to be any way to change the order. Can
anyone tell me how I can change the order of my contacts in the address
book?

(Within the contacts folder the "File As" field is set to Last Name + First
Name)

Many thanks,

Martin

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there

Thanks Russ, but I've tried this and it hasn't had the desired effect.
In My address book I get something like:
..
..
Johnny Ray
Kenny Everett
Miss Jennifer Eccles
Miss Mary Miles
Mr. & Mrs. Albert Einstein
Mr. & Mrs. Russ Abbott
..

I don't want the list to be ordered by title. Is there no way to remove
title from the name field as displayed in the address book?
Thanks,

Martin

If you followed the path I gave you, you already have the answer.
I'm sure you noticed that there are only two choices for sorting the Outlook
Address Book:
First, Last
File As...

Ok,

In relation to the post I mad a few minutes ago - problem solved.....

Having deleted the Contacts from the Outlook Address Book, it did disappear
once I reloaded Outlook.

I then went to the Contacts folder, right-click it and chose properties.
Under the Address Book tab, I check the box to add it and now everything is
OK, the entries do appear in the correct order without the title....

Thanks for your patience,

Martin

Russ,

I did follow the path and I do agree that there are only two options, but as
I suggested in my previous post, it makes no difference which sort order I
choose, the order in the address book remains the same.

Interestingly, what I have done, is to remove Contacts from the address book
in that same dialogue, but this has had no effect - when you open the
address book, all the contacts are there in the same order.... puzzling?

Thanks for your help,

Martin

You must restart the Address Book Service for changes to take effect.
Removing/re-adding the folder from the service will have the same effect.
