I have outlook 2002. I recently installed it on a new
computer. I cannot access my contacts through the address
book (when I write new email, for example) There are no
address books and I am unable to create a new address
book. I went to tools, email accounts, create new address
book, etc. But when I click finish I get an error message
saying that th account is not configured correctly and
will not work until I reconfigure it. How do i fix this?

Thank you for the speedy reply. I have searched the KB
for my specific problem. The link you provided does not
address the issue. I have tried the steps listed however
I am not able to create an address book therefore I
cannot add my contacts to it. When i try to create an
address book I get an error message saying it is not
configured correctly and won't work properly until i
reconfigure it. I don't know what to do to reconfigure it
because as far as I can tell it still hasn't been
created. Any ideas?

Make sure you have all the necessary components in your profile. The KB has
ample instructions on how to do this:

That error message is telling you that you do not have all the necessary
services in your profile and have not yet configured it correctly. That is
why I asked you first to make sure that you did. What services do you have
in this profile? How did you create this profile? How did you connect your
Outlook data file to this profile?

If you don't know, just post what you see when you go to "View or change
existing email accounts," "View or change existing directories and address
books," and "Deliver new email to the following location?"

I don't know what necessary components you're talking
about or how to configure my profile. I didn't do
anything to connect any data to the profile. When I
installed outlook 2002 on my new computer I simply choose
the export option from the file menu on my old computer
and exported the data to a thumb drive then on the new
computer I selected import from the file menu. I seemed
to set itself up from there.

When I go to "View or change existing email accounts," it
shows the name and type of email account

When I go to "View or change existing directories and
address books" there is nothing listed. When I
click "add directory or address book," then
choose "additional address books", then select OAB I get
an error message that says "The account you have added is
not fully configured. It might not work properly until re-
configured correctly"

Under "Deliver new email to the following location?" is
says Personal Folders

All you need are a functional mail transport and an Outlook Data File (PST
file) that is connected to your profile. Are your mail accounts fully
functional and working correctly?
I suspect the problem is with your PST file since exporting and importing is
one of the worst possible ways to transfer data from one installation to
another.
When you go to View > Folder List, is there more than one set of "Outlook
Today" or "Personal Folder" files listed? Do you still have access to your
original Outlook Data File so that we can connect it correctly?
