My e-mail address Book lists my Contact names
alphabetically--but with first names first, last names
last... Thus Ann Smith is listed under A, not S.

How do I change it so it's last name first...? I thought
it was keyed to the File AS line in the Contacts listing,
but that does properly have last name first...where do I
go?

You didn't post your Outlook version.

Depending on your version and mail support mode of Outlook, you can sort the
Outlook Address Book this way (check for your mode on the second line of the
Help menu > About):

97, 98/2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode:
Tools menu > Services > Highlight the Outlook Address Book service > Click
Properties > Set sort order

98/2000 Internet Mail Only:
Tools menu > Address Book > View menu > Sort by

Outlook 2002/2003:
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there

Russ- I tried this in Outlook 2002 and it didn't apply to
the address book. Do you have any other ideas?
