Russ,
I was previously able to, and have created a backup pst file.
I read through the articles you suggested, and the third on looked the
most
promising but, it applies to OL 2003, and I was unable to duplicate the
steps.
I want to be clear on what's happened as a rewsult of our
conversations.
When I created the new profile, it automatically picked up the on and
only
pst file I had. When I opoen OL using the new profile, my original in
box,
sent items, calender and contacts show up. But, it is not "linking" to
the
address book, as in my original profile.
When I check properties on the contacts folder in both profiles, it
indicates that the OL Address Book, is "Contacts", but nothing is
listed
in
the address book of either profile.

Russ,
Please describe, in detail, the process to "migrate" my old
Outlook.pst
file
to the new profile. Can I just change the file name from
Outlook8.pst
to
Outlook.pst?
:
You missed my point. Outlook8.pst is an empty PST file created
automatically
by the new profile. It contains no data so of course your address
book
view
is empty. So is your Contacts Folder. You have to populate your
Contacts
Folder before anything can show up in the address book view either
by
creating new Contacts or migrating your old data file to the new
profile.

No, after I created the new profile, and checked the data file
tab,
it
listed
Outlook8.pst. When I clicked on address book tab, Outlook Address
Book
was
listed, and when I clicked on change, it showed Personal Folders:
Contacts. I
added nothing, it showed up when I created the profile.
:
But by your description you created a new data file that would
be
empty,
so
of course nothing would show in the address book view.

Hi Brian,
To Add a new profile, I went to the Control Panel>Mail>Show
Profiles>Add
(I
typed in a new name for profile), and entered account
settings,
using
my
existing e-mail address. I tested connection and got a
successful
indication.
I then went back to the Mail Setup window, where I started
this
process,
clicked on the new profile in Show Profiles>properties>data
files
,
and
saw
that the default folder was Outlook 8.pst. As I said in an
earlier
post, I
created and undid profiles a number of times.
I restarted Outlook, chose the new profile then clicked on
Contacts
tab>File>Folder>Properties>Outlook Address Book. Contacts was
the
name
of
the
address book, the box was checked but light gray.
I confirmed that I actually received an e-mail in my in box of
the
new
profile from the test connection.
Where did I go wrong? There is nothing in the address book
(Contacts)
of
either the original profile, or the new one I created.

I've been trying to get an answer on this for over one
week,
and
I
think
Russ
may have given up on me.
I've been using Outlook 2007 for 1 year without any
problems.
Then
all
of
a
sudden, my address book does not show any of my contacts.
I've
successfully
created several new profiles, and still nothing.
Please describe the EXACT steps you used to create a new
profile,
add
your
data store to it, and configure your address book service.
