I did look again and found one contact showing a fax number in address
book. This was a new contact I added yesterday. This seems to
indicate an issue with how the fax numbers were originally entered.
The rest of my contacts were imported from a comma separated file I
created from Outlook on another computer. I did re-enter fax numbers
in my contacts folder and re-saved the contacts and what do you know?
The fax numbers now appear in address book. I was trying to avoid
re-entering every fax number. I wonder why the fax numbers were not
already recognized in address book since they were correctly imported
in Outlook to the correct field

Then look again.
The fax numbers will appear as separate entries in the Address Book view.

my contacts do have fax numbers listed in valid formats in Outlook,
they are just not visible when viewing within address book. Address
book shows separate line for each contact's email address but does
not
show any of my contact's fax numbers. I read somewhere that people
can hide fax numbers if they do not wish to see them, however I have
never hidden the fax numbers as I want to see them within address
book.
Describe what one of the fax numbers looks like that you believe to be
in
a
valid format. Is the fax number underlined in the Contact item?
