address book doesn't see contact folder

I just upgraded from Outlook 97 to Outlook 2002. I
successfully moved all of my email and contact information
over, but I am unable to use the address book now. There
is a Contacts folder, which has all of the email addresses.
I have tried to get the Address Book to use the Contacts
folder, but the pulldown menu for "Show Names from the:" is
blank.

I feel I must be missing something basic in the address
book menus, but I just don't see it.

Hello Jennifer,

click on your contact folder, right mouseclick/properties/Outlook
Addressbook/ "Use this Folder as Outlook Addressbook".

Do you see it now?
 
I see that screen, but everything is faded out, and I can't
click on the check box or 'name of the address book' field.
 
You probably just need to add the Outlook Address Book service to your
profile. See if the information in the following MSKB article helps:
