Address book/Contacts discrepancy

I just recently got and setup a new computer with Windows Vista and Office
2007.

I was able to transfer everything over through a data transfer cable (SO
easy - thanks!)

But now in Outlook, my contacts are visible on the left side when I click on
contacts (they're still intact in their separate folders and everything), but
they're all absent from my address book.

This means I can't search them, nor can I add any contacts to a distribution
list.

How can I fix this?

Thanks, in advance.

You haven't been paying attention or reading other replies to your other
posts. We have no idea how you actually transferred your data, but you did
so incorrectly. To repeat: the fact that you used a "transfer cable" tell us
nothing. Tell us what you did.

Well, I apologize Russ, but the only other post I received a reply to was
just a very terse request for more information. I answered what I thought
you needed to know in that thread. When I didn't hear anything back I
thought a new thread might ease communication with you.

What I did was... during the setting up of one computer used the
pre-installed wizard to transfer information from my old computer to my new
one. There is a program with Vista called 'Easy Transfer' - that is what I
used.

I had two choices in what I wanted to copy over something like 'profile
settings' and then I could choose the files I wanted.

It copied everything over and when I opened up Outlook everything was there
for me. My old folders containing my saved emails and my contacts were
visible under the 'contacts' button on the left side of the screen.

However...when I press 'to:' in an email message there aren't any contacts
there at all. Also, when I try to create a DL and select members there
aren't any there either. Additionally, when I enter an address in the search
field next to the little 'address book' icon at the top it tells me that it's
not there.

I'm terribly sorry if my knowledge (or lack thereof) of this system, this
program or computers in general is offensive or annoying to you, but I
wouldn't need to seek these answers at all if I knew as much as you do.

I beg your patience and understanding as I seek your assistance, as I'm
helpless without your superior intellect.

Now that you understand the density with which I am forced to live every
single day, I respectfully request that if you are able to help me from the
information I've provided, you do so with somewhat clear instructions...if
I'm told as another poster was... to 'resolve' each and every contact I will
need to know how to do this.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience I might have caused for you.

Indebtedly,
Triffany

The answer has been posted here frequently. You cannot use Windows Easy
Transfer with Outlook. It creates a corrupt profile.
Create a new profile from scratch and use a supported method to migrate your
data, also posted here frequently:
