Paula, I lost a lot of things when I was a new user, including my mind.
Open Windows Explorer or My Computer and look for the View menu. The first
item in the View menu is Toolbars. There it is.

unlock and drag the toolbars around and it should appear.
this happened to me last night after playing a graphic
intensive game. after exiting the game the address box
was gone. did you just play some game.
