Address BAR

I recently reinstalled XP home from fresh onto another
harddrive which I just bought. I installed everything
really quickly, including all updating/sp2 etc...

I noticed when I open up folders, or start/run/c:
I don't have a address bar, I turned it on under
view/toolbars/addressbar and nothing is working. The only
thing I see when I check address bar is a section next to
the "Standard Buttons" to the far right like
(-back -) forth etc etc etc | Address | links >>
But there is no seperate bar for the address like c:\path

Any help,
