I cannot manually type in a URL, it goes to a a box requesting to be sent to
MS for evaluation. Is there a fix for this? I have uninstalled IE and
re-installed it. Thanks in advance,

Am I correct in assuming that you mean that when you try to manually type in
a URL Internet Explorer crashes? Then wants to send an error report to
Microsoft?

A couple things to try-in IE go to Tools>Internet Options. Clear the
history and temporary Internet files.

If that does not work, try downloading an alternative browser (I'm partial
to Avant) and see if it has the same issue as IE. This will NOT affect
Internet Explorer-it's just an alternative for testing.

It's hard to tell from your post if you're getting an error reporting
window or a "suspicious site" notification.

If an error report, see Mike's answer.

If an "anti-phishing" window, you need to decide if you want to use this
feature or not. If you use the feature, choose to opt in or opt out of
sending info on suspicious sites. Help file has directions for configuring
the browser for whatever choices you decide on.

Mike, Thanks for the tips. I have tried the tools and options, but I did try
it again, no help. I downloaded Avant and tried and I got another form of
error message from Avant. Bob

Sharon, Thanks for your help. I type in the URL in the address Bar and I
actually get to the site, But then I get a message box from Internet Explorer
saying IE has encountered a problem and must close, it gives me a choice to
send a report to Microsoft or to don't send and close box. Either way I lose
the web page and must start over. Bob

Hi, Bob.
Okay so it's clear now that this is an error message window - not a
security window of some type. I see from your other reply in this thread
that using another browser still leaves you with an error at that site. If
I remember correctly the Avant browser "rides on top" of IE - uses a
different window but underlying code is IE. If that's still true, then
it's not really surprising that you still get an error.

Other things to try:
-Emptying your Temporary Internet Files. File corruption in the cache can
cause the browser to fail. Wouldn't hurt to delete cookies for this site as
well. Not as common to have a "bad cookie" but it can happen.

-Use Tools> Manage Add-ons to disable all third party browser extensions.

-If the site requires any add-ons (macromedia, Sun's java plugin, etc),
make sure you have the latest versions installed.

-Apply updates for your version of IE. (I know IE7 beta 2 preview is
available but stubbornly stick with IE6 here.)

-Update any internet security programs that you use.

If you continue to have trouble, you'll want to post a history of the
problem to one of the internet explorer newsgroups. Sorry for the long
link:

Sharon, Thanks for the reply. I,ve been off-line for a few days. I will
certainly try your suggestions and I'll let you know. Bob

Sharon, It appears that deleting cookies was the solution. After I did that
and tried inputting on the address bar it went right thru and I did not
receive the error box from MS. It was not that this problem was earth
shattering, it was just a pain. Thank you very much, Bob

You're welcome, Bob! Glad to hear this has been resolved for you.
