Hi, I would like to remove some of the addresses that
appear under my web address bar as I type. How is this
done?
Eeee Thank you
You can delete all of those addresses by using the Clear History option in
Tools/Internet Options/Clear History button.
If you want to selectively delete one or more of those addresses, you will
need to edit the registry.
In regedit, navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
You will see all of the URLs in the right pane. Each URL is logged in order
with a number, ie: URL 1, URL2, etc. Double click the one you wish to remove
and delete the URL in the Value data Line. This will leave a blank spot in
the Address Bar drop down menu until more URLs replace it.
The only way to overcome the blank spot is to keep the numbers in
consecutive order by renaming them to URL1, URL2, etc, after you have
deleted the unwanted entries.
If you leave one URL# out of order, then all of the URLs below that number
will be blank in the Address Bar drop down menu.
