Can anyone help? I am using IE 6 sp1 on Windows 98. After a browser
hijack, which I have cleared up, whenever I type in a web address and IE
fails to locate it I get http:///? xxxxxx in the Address bar and Cannot
find server error. I have set up IE 6 to goto a search page if the web page
is not found but it is not work.

What should I do?

Yves,

First, scan the system for parasites and remove them. SpyBot S&D searches
your harddisk for Spyware and Adware
http://security.kolla.de/

&

Adaware (similar)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
(Remember to perform a Webupdate to have the latest definitions installed)

This will remove malware from the PC. Next, reset the Search Engine. Click
the Search button in the toolbar > Customize > AutoSearch Settings > Select
a provider from the list.
Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Programs > "Reset Web Settings"

Download the fix - Reset Search:

Thanks! I had already cleared up with Ad Aware 6 but I could not find the
reg patch for the Search feature(s).

NO! Got my IE 6 hijacked by a spyware program which reconfigured my default
web page (none) and the search features. They were "n-case" and orbitview.
