Address bar search problem

The address bar search is now defaulting to something
called popnav.com, rather than the MSN Search that came
with the browser. Obviously something has been downloaded
without my knowing, and I can't undo it. I've gone all
through the how-to's for setting the address bar search,
but it still keeps redirecting to a popnav.com search. I
can't find a related file anywhere in my system.

I have the same problem only my MSN search was replaced
by something called Web Search and it will not let me
page through other search engines. I've tried to reset
my settings under Tools, Internet Options, but that only
works for the next search. A second search returns to
Web Search. How can I get rid of this annoyance and get
back the original browser? Thanks.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
 
i have netzero and it uses overture.com as it's default search engine. i
have been using the quick search feature (web accessories) in my I.E. 6.0
(xp pro) when searching using google as my default engine in the address bar
in my old computer.
i bought a new computer and setup everything good.
i tried to install the quick searh feature in IE6.0 and it was good.
i tried it, but Overture search engine keeps taking over when i do the quick
search.
how do i get rid of this overture default settings.
