Recently I discovered that I can't access websites anymore using my address
bar. Every time I punch in a key word, let's say, "espn", the address bar
generates "http:///? espn" which obviously cannot be displayed. If I type
in two words like "american flag" I get "http:///? american flag". Does
anyone know how to fix this address bar problem? For the time being I have
to use the search button which is just the long way around. Please help!

Could be corrupted url prefixes. Use regedit and check subkeys under
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL". For
example "DefaultPrefix" should have default value "http://".

I'll try that fix now. Thx!

If I was looking in the right place, it appears that the default prefix
already set is what you described, SE, and the type is "REG_SZ" if that
means anything. Any other suggestions I can try?

Unzip the file, hit the executable, follow the prompts.

Please post back with your results -

Jim Byrd just fixed my problem with RestoreSearch2.reg. For the download,
find the 8/29/03 10:21 PM posting in this newsgroup entitled "Searching from
the address bar" by Scott. The last posting in that group by Jim Byrd has
the attachment download to fix the problem. Good luck & thx, Jim!

My apologies, the correct date for the posting is 8/27/03. Everything else
is correct.
