Hi,

In reading from even Microsoft's own website. The
address bar (from the taskbar), can act like a command
prompt

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000pr
o/tips/addbar.mspx

Ok, this is for Windows 2000, but there are postings on
the web that applies to IE4 onwards. In our environment,
we are running Windows 2000 SP4 to XP1a, with IE5-6.
With some working and some not.

When i say 'not working', i mean that when i enter -
say, 'cmd' in the address bar, it will automatically
append 'http://' infront and tries to open it up in the
browser as a url rather than realising that this is not a
url.

I am sure that i am not alone on this issue... :<

Does anyone have any ideas on fixing this?

Many thanks in advance.

I am experiencing the same issue. I have a combination of WinXP and Win2K3
boxes and launching applications via the toolbar work except for one box
running Win2K3. This functionality works on several of my colleagues boxes
but mine. Any help would be appreciated.
