I can't seem to get rid of some memorized selections on
the address bar, even -after- I clear the history of
visited web sites and restart the browser. For instance,
when I start typing in 'www.a___', I get a listing
of 'abcnews.com/xxxxx', 'amazon.com/xxxxx', etc. on a
drop-down menu, among other listings. I have even tried
reinstalling the entire operating system, reinstalling
various service packs, etc.. and I can't get rid of
them. Has anyone ever encountered this?

Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan,
With no IE windows open, try it from Control Panel> Internet Options>
General> Clear History.

These entries might be in the registry in a TypedURLs key:
157729 - How to Clear the History Entries in Internet Explorer:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q157729
DelTypedURL.inf from http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelTypedURL.inf will clear
this list.
EditURLs from http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm will clear selected
entries from this list.

You might need to delete a damaged History folder- a new one will be
created on restart.
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP.

Don
