I'm running IE 6 on XP Home, both fully patched. I've run AdAware
and SpyBot, both come up clean. I have Autocomplete turned off.

When I type something in the address bar, something like, let's say:

www.

then the "www:" becomes selected text, so that whatever I type next
destroys the "www."

It really doesn't matter what I type in the address bar. If I pause
for a split-second, what I've already typed becomes highlighted, and
then what I type next overwrites it.

Any hints, please?

Penwell,
Just a thought ..... turn off "Use inline AutoComplete" = Internet Options |
Advanced
Have you run "HijackThis!"? (see below)

I'm running IE 6 on XP Home, both fully patched and up-to-date. I've
run AdAware and SpyBot, both come up clean. I've run "HijackThis!"
and deleted a couple of questionable items. I have Autocomplete
turned off, and "Use inline Autocomplete" is turned off.

So here's the problem --

When I type something in the address bar, for example, let's say:

www.

then the "www:" becomes selected text, so that whatever I type next
destroys the "www."

It really doesn't matter what I type in the address bar. If I pause
for a split-second, what I've already typed becomes highlighted, and
then what I type next overwrites it.

Any hints, please?
