Addomg a Category to a group in the Distribution List

Is there a simple way of taking a distribution list and adding a category to
each person on the list, without having to do it one by one. I've tried
selecting them all and then right clicking or using "actions"...but, I can't
figure it out.

DLs don't contain contact data, so no.
