Additional overhead in Addition of Security Groups/Users

Situation: Say a W2k AS server possesses 50 local
security groups with approx 10-50 members (pulled from an
account domain). If an additional 200 new local security
groups with approx 50 members are added to this server,
is there any significant overhead associated with such an
action? Is there anyway to quantify this? Is there a
published rule of thumb for authentication or system side
latency due to adding additional accounts/groups for
resource draw?

Can anyone point me to articles on such a question?
Thanks.

Of course it will add overhead, but a lot depends on the server hardware
configuration as far as number and speed of processors, amount of memory, and hard
drive array. At some point it will make sense to add more domain controllers if you
are talking about Active Directory. I don't know the numbers, but using Performance
Monitor can give an idea of how much a server is currently being taxed and if there
is significant margin for more utilization. The Windows 2000 Active_directory or
setup_deployment newsgroups may provide some insight also. --- Steve
