ok, so I'm a newbe to this whole thing, but I'm learning. I have my
presentation all beautifully done in ppt with links to word documents. the
problem is that it isn't very professional when the computer running the CD
opens every darn toolbar the person has open on their computer. Can I just
save the docs differently. Tried htm but ended up with same with problem in
explorer.

What I did:

Converted the Word document to a PDF, then used the PDF to save the separate
pages as JPG files. I then inserted the JPG files (one to a slide), resized
to the height of the slide and centered on the slide. Finally I added a
slide transition of Push Up to the sides. This gives the appearance of the
document scrolling through the pages.

This'd require that you have the full version of Acrobat. If that's not
available, there are a couple other approaches. You can print to the MS
Document Imaging printer driver then save from MODI to TIFF (and maybe some
other formats?) then insert those into PPT as you describe above.
