Adding Win 2003 server to 2000 domain fails

Hi

I have a Win 2000 Domain and i want to add a Windows 2003 Server Enterprise
to my domain. When I try to add the server to the domain I get the following
error :

"The specified user already exists"

Im getting this error when i use the administration account from my Win2000
Domain.

What an I doing wrong ?

I am having a similar problem. I want to add a Windows 2003 Server
Enterprise to a Samba domain. I, too, get the error message

"The specified user already exists"

I am getting the error whatever account I use. Any help is much
appreciated.

Hello,

It sounds like this server had already been added to AD at some point and
time.

Action Plan
==========

1. First run NTDSUTIL and checked for the server object (if it is there
you will have to perform metadata cleanup).

2. Get LDIFDE dump of AD Database and check to see if it is in AD.
255253 XADM: How to Perform a Dump of a Container or Object in Exchange 2000

*** if you do not find it in Step 1 or 2 go to Step 3

3. Rename the machine and then run dcpromo.
