Hello all,

I would like to add video controls to my PP project so that the speaker can
pause, rewind, ect. the video during his presentation without exiting PP.
Can this be done in 2002 - is there some Active X control which would allow
me to do this? I skimmed the posts but found nothing similar ...

Cheers,

Chris

Hello Chris,

The following should help

1. Download and install Windows Media Player 9 series.
2. Open the presentation in which you want to add an ActiveX control.
3. Optional: If the Control Toolbox is not displayed, select View > Toolbars
Control Toolbox.
4. In the Control Toolbox, click More Controls (hammer and wrench icon).
5. Select Window Media Player. PowerPoint inserts the control.
6. Right-click the control. Then click Properties on the shortcut menu.
7. Set the Property URL : Path to your video

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

You can do this natively in PowerPoint 2002 or 2003 without having to use
VBA or any ActiveX controls.

Simply use the Play, Pause and Stop "Movie Action" effects (available from
the Custom Animation taskpane when a movie is selected) and then adjusting
the effect options for each to be triggered when you click on other shapes
in the slide (for example, shapes labelled, Play, Pause and Stop).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think it's important that
PowerPoint provide an easier way to display media playback controls during
slide show and/or have some suggestions about how these controls should
look, behave, etc., don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS,
please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
