Is there any way to add a folder I go to all the time to
the left side of the windows under what I think is called
Other places(where you can quick link to say My documents
and desktop)?

If you are asking about "Quick Launch", you can r-click your folder of
application and select "Sendto Desktop" (create shortcut) and then simply
drag the new icon to the QL area of the task bar.

LOL, JAX

Are you referring to the "Places Bar" in the common dialogs, "File Open" and "File Save", or to the "Other places" link in the
"Common Tasks" pane in Windows Explorer?

Hi Lillian,

If you are speaking of Other Places via Common Tasks, no.

If you are speaking of Save in, Look in (Places Bar), yes:

Go to Start/Run and type in: gpedit.msc then navigate to:

User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/ Windows
Explorer/Common Open File Dialog/Items Displayed in Places Bar.

Choose Enabled then paste or type the link to the folders that you want
listed.

Or...

Add Folders to the "Save As" Dialog (Places Bar) Line 118

Or use TweakUI/Common Dialogs
