Right clicking on the Win XP desktop brings up a context sensitive menu that
allows you to created new items on the desktop (i.e., folders, Word
documents, etc). How can I add to or modifiy this list of new items?

For folders,open control-panel,folder options,file types tab,scroll thru &
locate
item to modify.

That's a nice utility. Strange thing though, I works on everything except
Notepad. I was missing a Notepad.txt file in the Templates folder and added
one, but still the same problem. Anymore ideas? Or does anyone know where the
"new" items are stored? Possibly in the registry?

Thanks
Terry

Hi Terry,

The "Text Document" entry is listed by default in the "New" menu in Windows
XP. If it's missing in your system, download and run the TXT association fix
from here:

Thanks Ramesh. ShellNew in the registry was the problem. I had a corrupted
entry.

Thanks again,
Terry

Download, install & run Microsoft's TweakUI PowerToy from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx.
What you're after can be controlled from the "Templates" section on
the
left.
