Hi there,
Your problem is not an unusual. It is almost always caused by an out of
date codec.
A codec is a small program that is accessed by Movie Maker during the
rendering process. Perhaps the two most common codec that cause this problem
come with the DVD software; Cyberlinks Power DVD and Intervideo WinDVD.
The two DVD programs mentioned are those that come as a free program
with DVD players or writers. There are a number of ways you can solve this
problem if you have either of the above programs on your system (or have had
on your system in the past)
1) Use WindowsXP to remove the programs (see your control panel)
2) Rename the codecs and change them back afterwards. This is messy and if
you make a mistake you can cause all sorts of problems.
3) Install the latest version of the software (This is what I did)
4) Install the Codec updates (a lot cheaper then buying the full upgrade)
